I rather liked the Rat Shack "the '80s called, and they want their store back" commercial.

American Patriotic songs should be sung in English only!

I am from the old school where I don't want to push #1 for English. Speaking English, having needed job skills & understanding our Constitution need to be requirements for legal immigrants.

I agree. Besides, we're not just any America, we're North America! If you want to live on this continent, learn to speak the language!

We don't speak Navajo here!

I thought all of the car commercials sucked monkey balls. No imagination. It seemed like most were "Lets see who can hire the highest priced actor to say the name of our car" and then we will spend a few million airing it. Even advertising in America is going down the tube. I mean Bruce Willis doing a Hyundai commercial. What focus group made that decision. Seems to me if you are pushing for the demographic that buys Hyundai's you should get an actor in the 20's or early 30's.

Yeah, because every single one of our grandparents and their grandparents were natives.......

It wasn't the pledge and it wasn't the nation anthem. It was America the Beautiful, something that we all for the most part agree with. It is not a national song, it is a song about our nation. I have no problem with it being sung in different languages. Most people around this world would rather live here than where they were born. The USA is the only true melting pot where people of all cultures are welcome. The only true natives to this land were run off.

I say sing that wonderful song in every damn language on this earth, the more people know the song, the better this country will be.

I don't know what the test covers specifically, but I've seen report after report that immigrants score higher on nationalization tests than US citizens.

It doesn't bother me to hear the song in multiple languages. Considering we do not have an official language in this country and we are a multicultural nation, that commercial was more patriotic than any other commercial I remember from yesterday's game.

The most entertaining to me was the 80s call Radio Shack commercial. The rest of the commercials were meh to just plain boring. It's only recently that big names and faces started showing up in Super Bowl commercials, but this year it seemed like every other commercial had a celebrity. It's an idea that's wearing out its welcome rather quickly.

Word. America isn't a language...it's an idea.

I thought it was a pretty good commercial...as far as commercial ripping off patriotism for profit goes. LOL.

That's for darn sure right there. My grandma told me about the test, and it was no joke. You had to know your stuff, and actually study for that test. She came over in the late 30's/early 40's. Also, like you said, as sad as it is, I would bet a high percent of American born American's couldn't pass that test.

+1

IDK what the outrage is about. Other than blatant xenophobia.
