Doing a great job, or overstepping their bounds?
I think they are a necessary evil. They have too much power but they are the people's only check against Corporate greed. Without the EPA a Corporation will just say oops my bad and dump **** in every lake river stream or pond in the US.
In my opinion the EPA did a great job several years ago, but have ran out of major projects that needed to be done. Now they are scrounging around looking for something to justify all the extra people they have and are over steping in major ways. They just got pushed back from making you responsible for the rainwater water running down the ditch in front of your house and being able to fine you if it had any pollutants.
The keep tightening down the clean air requirements in cities to a point where they are not achievable. In Tulsa they put a monitor half way between two north south refineries and we will have an extra tax added to our gasoline if we go past the recently lowered again limits. Enough is enough.
Our pollution is less than 1/10 of most of the other countries in the world and we are facing fines for not being cleaner. Not right.
