Why do you think you’d like the trapper set better?I have an Elk and Pro Skinner. As much as I love em, I think I would like a Trapper Set better. I plan on ordering on ordering a Trapper Set soon.

I like a thinner blade profile for gutting and skinning work. (Thinner from edge to knife back)Why do you think you’d like the trapper set better?
Makes sense and that’s what I like about the trapper also.I like a thinner blade profile for gutting and skinning work. (Thinner from edge to knife back)
Thanks I’m going to call him after work. The trapper set seems like the best “deal” money wise. It’s basically a 2 for 1 deal if I looked at the price list correctly. Each knife is designed for a specific task. Talk to Dave and have him help guide your decision.
That is what I did years ago, 2 knives in now and still not exactly what I am looking for. Although I like my knives, I am still looking for the thinner knife blade (cutting edge to back of knife) I want. I think the trapper set will fit what I am looking for. Each knife is designed for a specific task. Talk to Dave and have him help guide your decision.

Exactly! That is exactly why I bought the straight Trapper. I bought it basically as a 'bung hole' knife, but it has field dressed many a deer all by itself ... start to finish. Not skinned, but field dressed.

For those interested in McCrosky knives, keep in mind Dave isn’t a spring chicken, so if you want one, it might be a good idea to make your move before it’s too late.Been looking at and drooling over these knives for a couple years but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I’m looking for a good all around do it all knife. Looks like the Elk, curved trapper and butch would be something I’m interested in. What do y’all recommend?
Watch those fingers. LolFor those interested in McCrosky knives, keep in mind Dave isn’t a spring chicken, so if you want one, it might be a good idea to make your move before it’s too late.
Since I’m done deer hunting this year, I really figured I might not get to try out my knives on game until next season, but I got to try out the elk skinner yesterday evening on my daughter’s buck and didn’t even cut myself.
I’m headed out now to skin the head for a euro mount, so the trapper set will get broken in too.
