After loosing to South Alabama, why do they think that other teams would want any of them.

Interesting aspects all around imo.

- OSU starts the season with a roster consisting of 3/4 of the roster new from last year

-OSU could have easily lost the first two games

- Game 3, two unranked teams, OSU loses miserably yet fan reaction is like they were ranked in the top 10 and got beat by a HS team

- Game 3, at no time in the last 30y has a two QB system worked, let alone a 3 QB system, not sure what Gundy is thinking there, who was at one time a legit QB who didn't party in college, he was 100% a student of the game even during down time between practices and games. Have a good friend who was, fortunately/unfortunately lol, a rb/fb behind Thurman and Barry and was there at the same time as Gundy.

- Game 4, talk is the players will walk after the game and as said above, who's going to want a bunch of losing team hoppers? If they were legit, a solid team would have already picked them up two years ago.

Craziness for sure.

It looks like it may come to pass that OSU will be the first legit casualty of the transfer portal/NIL restructuring of college ball. If Gundy can't field a team, then what? Would he be wrong is blaming this? I've not heard or seen rumors of some giant scandal in Stillwater.

I've always liked Gundy and hate to see this happen. If it does...

Not gonna say anything about the chickens coming home to roost after all the comments we got last year from a few boys on this board. Because gosh darnit, I care about their mental health.

The portal giveth, and taketh away. He can make it work if he wants to. Don't think he's a fan of it.

With NIL he’s fighting with his hands tied behind his back.

Kids today want:

1) to get paid
2) to go to NBA and NFL games
3) to have access to lots of bars, girls and big city amenities

They don’t want to go live in a pasture for 4 years. Gundy and T. Bone’s money has taken that team about as far as it’s ever going to go. Saban wouldn’t do a whole lot better there long term.

Mark my word, OSU will struggle from here on out because of NIL and the portal is the engine that will power that struggle. That pitcher that jumped to OU is a perfect example.

A perfect example. She played at OSU for 5 years before transferring.

I also can't imagine players giving up or taking chance on giving up a free college education, but I've seen crazier things lol.
Unfortunately, those days are long gone when a kid got a scholarship to go to school and play a sport as a secondary thing. Now it is all about the money. For some schools it's always been all about the money. At least now they don't have to pretend to work somewhere.

OSU's alumni need to get together and put some NIL deals out there. There should be some Pickens money still around to start.

Sure some kids will want those things, but explain Colorado's success right now. Otherwise, those kids can go to USC or something of the like. But watching how this season is panning out so far, one thing is for certain.....kids also want to play. Look at that UNC QB, the kid is a stud. He turned down million dollar deals to go play there. Notice Alabama doesn't look like the Alabama we've come to know? Kids don't want to sit behind a guy for 3-4 years, when they can go start somewhere else. Bama doesn't have the depth they used to and it's sure has heck showing.

Look at the recruiting rankings too...

https://247sports.com/season/2024-football/compositeteamrankings/
If money was all that mattered, Texas & ND would be #1 & 2 but they are 8 & 17?? USC as well, they are getting RIDICULOUS money out in Cali. But they are #18.

Also, look at 25 and up, tell me why OSU shouldn't be able to compete with those schools in NIL, or overall recruiting for that matter?

Gundy is tired, he looks tired, and IMO, he doesn't want to coach in this environment of NIL and transfer portals. Hope he proves me wrong.
