Well there is Texas law, section 42.01 (a) (8) of the penal code, which states a person commits an offense if he intentionally or knowingly "displays a firearm or other deadly weapon in a public place in a manner calculated to alarm."

So you're legal to open carry as long as nobody is alarmed. No, actually they'd have to prove that you were doing it in order to cause alarm. This probably falls under the same type of thing as yelling "fire" in a crowded theater.

When I made the OP, I wasn't knowledgeable enough to make any remarks as to whether he was doing it correctly/incorrectly. That is the reason that I made the post without comment.

Yeah, most people here interpret that as "slung on your back" or something similar that shows you are obviously just trying to take it from point A to point B. My guns stay in a case anytime they are outside the house being transported as a rule. That's my most obvious way to say I'm not intending to threaten.

My most recent remembering of this was another of these types that gets off on pushing limits while making everyone else look bad. He was walking down the street in San Antonio with an AR on his back. Of course the cops were called on him. But rather than act like a person who wants to actually cooperate, all he would do is keep asking "Am I being detained?". The cops were actually super nice about it.

Isn't that true.
.22 tied across the handlebars, and ride to the river to shoot. About a 1/2 mile ride. .01 cents a round for ammo, but it bit deeply into my $2 a yard mowing fee. lol
