We had a 2000 Dakota. That model dodge dakotas have a BAD issue with the evaporator cores corroding and leaking. It's due to a screwed up design on the drain hose. Dodge wouldn't warranty the problem when it started happening. They would hand you the correct drain hose deal, then say "sorry". Lots of folks have had the problem. Ok...the up side. If this is what it is, the parts aren't terribly expensive. Now...the down side. If this is what it is, you have to pull the complete dash to change the evaporator. It sucks. I suggest if you do this, change the heater core at the same time and use GOOD parts...cause you will NOT want to do it again..LOL. Dealer wanted like 1300 buck labor to do'm. You can do it in a couple of easy days if you have the patience. Lots of Posts about it on the dodge dakota forums.
