Pins by the thousands around mixed in with some mallards now. All in water standing in muddy wheat fields. Front will probably push them out and this next artic front should bring the mallards.
All I saw on the feedlot by the house was mallards.
With bucks not cooperating, i finally went duck hunting. Took two buddies that are new to it. I haven't been to the area since the summer, so i relied on past experience to pick a spot. We ended up knocking 5 down, retrieved 4. Of the other two, one made it to the middle of the lake and then started swimming. We got to watch a bald eagle attempt to get him for 5 minutes before he gave up. The duck finally took off.
