Here, but occasionally There.
I grew up in a small town in the Panhandle. For the most part, it was jeans and shirts for the guys, and the gals varied. However, when I got into either junior high or high school (don't remember exactly), I decided I was tired of always wearing jeans. So, I got mom to buy me some slacks, and at the time, the slacks were those that had the "belt in the back."

Yeah, I know. Many of you know NOTHING about the Ivy League Look back then.

Now, after retirement, it is back to jeans.

i always found a dress code to be easier to work with and less hassle, but as you noted, it was just part of life.
Also basic uniform clothes like polos and slacks from academy, target, gap on sale, Walmart etc. are way cheaper than the other clothes my kids would pick out to fit in.

It’s definitely a blessing compared to keeping up with the other kids in school.
