I have eaten the Oyster and Lions mane and Morel and a friend found chicken of the woods but I did not get any of those.

I'll stick with my mushroom & swiss burger.

I was at a farmers market in Alabama in March. There were tables of mushrooms all over the place that folks had gathered. Never heard of most of them, so stayed the heck away from them.
One thing keeps coming to mind when eating mushrooms is that the leading expert on shrooms died from eating the wrong variety.

I am intrigued by your post so I did a quick search and found this article.
Yes it is a long one but easy and quick to read and very informative on some of the different species of False Morel / Gyromitra Many quite edible and some are commercially canned and sold for consumption.

My dad said his grandmother served it raw mixed in with other leafy greens.

Yea I am experimental and a must know guy so I have eaten the smaller tender leaves raw many times.

Could be my gut does not mind the toxins I put down it but I have never had any issues eating the stuff.
Not my favorite green in the woods or front yard to eat as i much prefer Dock or sorrel.

Are you sure he didn't say lambs quarters? Although amaranth/pig weed/careless weeds are edible it isn't the same plant as lambs quarters.
