I've been thinking about getting a Rock Island 9mm 1911 in the future, but the Browning Hi Power is also a consideration. The 1911 has been on my mind since buying our GSG 1911-22. The 1911 is just a good fit for me.

But I know nothing about all of the variations of BHPs models, and there seem to a lot of them. Are there any recommended starter BHPs that won't break the bank?

Also, please feel free to cuss and discuss the pro and cons of a 9mm 1911 vs BHPS. If anyone has a link to some good reading material on the subject, please point me in the right direction.

I have a RIA 9mm that is functions flawlessly and accurate. I just purchased a Springfield EMP 9mm. The 9mm 1911 is the greatest creation since the 45acp 1911.

I love the EMP! Never had one of my own, but I've shot a lot of them. But in a world between RIA 1911-9, and the browning hipower, browning is going to win hands down every day.

The 1911 in 9MM doesnt make much sence to me IMHO. 8 rounds of 45 ACP is one thing but one of the advantages of 9MM to me is twice the capacity which you dont get with a 1991 in 9MM.

It's not a practical carry gun, but they're an awesome range / competition shooter.

I love mine!

It's not a RIA though.

If the 1911 is your main carry platform. I would think the 9mm 1911 would be worth consideration. Otherwise I would go with the Browning. One of the best natural pointing handguns ever made. Regards.
