So in my house that I sold in mustang the garage was pretty well insulated, took some work, but i could work in it just about year around. I feel like that helped with the electric bill/gas bill quite a bit too. The new house, isn't so new. The garage gets awful cold, and I have zero desire to do anything in it when its cold. I've been thinking of adding some heat to it. First thought was a simple woodburning stove, but I don't know how i would run the exhaust for it without chopping a hole in the wall or ceiling/roof, which is a great way to get murdered in my sleep by the wife. Am I just SOL? How do you guys heat your garages/shops?
An electric space heater keeps mine workable.
But not when it is 10° f outside.
I many mobile homes have a free standing wood burning stove in them and vent out the side wall.
Now if you have a smaller door that you can exit the garage from then maybe you could cut a hole in it and run the chimney out of it.
Or get another door and use it just for the wood stove.

You could try and run the stove pipe through a piece of sheet metal cut to replace one of your garage window panes (if you have a window in your garage, that is). The good part is that it's a reversible change.

All my shops have been heated and A/C. I just bought another Home, it has a metal shop on it. First thing is it will be spray foamed and a pellet stove in it and a Propane/nat gas vent free.
They make some good 220v shop elect heaters that hang from the ceiling that are vent free.

My dad used a hole saw around the top between studs. Rented the insulation machine from lowes and filled each one up. Did a piece of trim around the top to hide the holes. His garage is toasty and the whole job took us about 3 hours.
I came off my gas water heater and mounted mine to the wall.

Mine has a ceiling mounted gas heater with a thermostat. My work bench is at the far corner from it but, when it kicks on, I'm almost too hot. I have a huge window ac unit for the summers.
