Here, but occasionally There.
I remember years ago, we tried to get it where we all just drew names for Christmas. My sister would have none of it, so she continued to buy thing after thing after thing. That is, until one year she decided to keep track of what she spent.

Then, she was ready to draw names. But, she still bought thing after thing after thing for her two kids. Christmas that year drug out because we had to stick around to see every package opened.

It really sucked that we couldn't afford to buy thing after thing after thing for our two sons. They REALLY felt left out. After that, we canceled Christmas for the family as a whole.

My family went through the same crisis. No gifts for anybody but kids and grandkids.
My Sister screwed the pooch, and my wife did the same that I was not aware of.
We had a back room come to Jesus moment for both and it was settled.
It's all good now except for that pesky MIL that has to slip around and put envelopes in back pockets. How in the hell do you discipline an 82 year old?

Too much commercialism, people absolutely have to buy and that puts them in debt fr the next 12 months. The Chinese toys break before the extended family even leaves the house. We've forgotten the true meaning of Christmas somewhere along the way.

Well given that most Americans spend more than they make and seldom make big purchases with cash - opting instead to carry massive amounts of credit card debt, i'm not sure this is a good thing.

Spoken like a true Trump hater and blinded by the rage.
