Crossbow sticker shock.

After leaving the P.O. to get my duck stamp this morning I went by Atwoods to look at all the guns that I'd like to have but am too dam cheap to buy and while there I took a look at the crossbows just for the heck of it.......WOW $$$$$.

I saw a Ravin R500 that was priced at $3299.99+ tax......are most of you bow hunters shooting crossbows that cost that much ?

Just like most stuff......you can get the Honda Civic or the Porsche. They'll both get you there. I'm very happy with my Excalibur Equinox recurve that can probably be found under $1K

There’s also one made by Bear “ bearx”, sold by academy- that is 200$, and 380 fps.. ( fast enough that +2”@20yds= dead on at 30 with top crosshair..) you can spend as much as you want..

@MR.T. I don't consider it a hassle going to the P.O.....I drove3 1/2 miles roundtrip and was in and out in 5 minutes.

I think Walmart does but I don't have any idea if Atwoods sells federal duck stamps or not.

No not even close. But when you consider many folks easily spend half that on a rifle and scope and ammo to hunt for just a few days a year, whereas the xbow a person can hunt every day of season from October 1 to January 15th if they wanted to.

You can buy them online (Should get the app—it’s great) from Ok Wildlife Dept. get immediate use receipt and they will mail the stamp.

My $350, 350 fps crossbow does what need. Had it for years, don't remember who made it, but it's still going strong.

It’s a literal stamp issued by the federal government. You could use it to mail a package if I’m not mistaken. You could order it online, but then you gotta wait for it to get processed and mailed to you. You can skip all that by just going to the PO. I typically forget to get mine until it’s too late, and just end up going to the post office.
