Mental health is one of the biggest issues resulting in homelessness. They can’t afford medicine or treatment, lose their home, and then vanish into the streets. No close family to take care of them and no hope for recovery (no money=no treatment=no job=no money…). Closing down mental hospitals resulted in an increase in for profit prison population because you have individuals like this that will now be imprisoned with little hope of recovery.
