Goes right along with what I've said for years...
Put your wife and your dog in the trunk of the car for an hour.
When you come back to let them out...which one is glad to see you?!?!

Not a cat person either, but know of some folks who lost a cat while en route to a new home. In a few months the cat, which had never been anywhere near the new home, showed up. Same cat, no doubt about it.

My dad lost a hound while fox hunting in southwest Arkansas. We lived near Duncan, OK. Dog was found over halfway home by a kind person who fed it and kept it until Dad could pick it up. Skinny, and feet in shreds, but he was coming home.
