ORRVILLE — The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department charged Marlo Ellis, 38, from the Five Points area with enticement of child for immoral purposes and rape second degree Tuesday afternoon. The alleged victim is between the age of 12 and 16.

“It all came about because the mother didn’t know the whereabouts of [her daughter], and it was more like she was looking for the child she was missing because she wasn’t home at the right time,” said Sgt. Mike Grantham with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department. “We got involved, when the mother contacted the police saying that her daughter was supposed to be home at a certain time and wasn’t home.”

Grantham said police immediately began searching the area Friday, Feb. 15, but soon after received a call saying the girl had been found.

“They saw this older subject — Marlo Ellis. He dropped her off in the area,” Grantham said. “The mother started making some allegations, after talking to the daughter, asking where she’d been, that sort of thing. So they filed a police report and the investigation started.”

Grantham said after speaking with the female juvenile, the department learned there had allegedly been inappropriate contact between the juvenile and Ellis.

“She said there had been some inappropriate contact between him and her. We brought [Ellis] in and of course, he denied every bit of it,” Grantham said. “We’re waiting on some forensics to come back. There are some articles of clothing that are going to be sent back.”

Grantham said the Sheriff’s department had not looked into Ellis’ criminal history, but said there had been allegations against Ellis similar to what he was charged with in this case.

Grantham said the case is still under investigation, and there is a possibility that more charges will be added once the clothing returns from forensics.
Ellis was released Tuesday after posting bond.
