My Dr. at McBride retired in December after 45 years!!! He handed me off to his colleague Dr. Thomas Tkach. They both have developed the knee that I have. Dr. Thomas Tkachs' son is also an Ortho, Dr. Chistopher Tkach, but I was told the Father was more referred to.

We have some of the Best in the world is a true statement. Diplomats, Sports, and Big Stars come here for surgery. The two Surgeries that Oklahoma is considered the best in is Heart and Orthopedic Surgery.

Well, the report I have to give today is not very encouraging. I arose from bed the other night and my knee popped and I could hardly put any weight on it to go to the bathroom. I returned to bed and the next AM I feared the worst but it seemed to be better.
But as the day wore on, the knee became increasingly painful and today I went out in the yard and cut some branches standing up, no twisting or abuse of the knee and now I'm limping and hurting.
The PT said that usually within a year a partial knee replacement requires a total so now I've wasted so much time on the partial and a complete knee replacement is at hand. My cardiac Doctor says that I'm at moderate risk undergoing surgery so I have to consider that. Meanwhile, I am actively searching reviews of Orthopods who have good records/results and reviews.
I cannot sit around the remainder of my life, it isn't normal at least for me.

I would recommend Dr. Bradley Reddick at Southwest Orthopaedic and Reconstructive Specialists at 8100 S. Walker in OKC. I had both knees get partial replacements back on January 22. One thing I really liked was that they don't use physical therapy places, but instead, give the patient a series of exercises to do prior to surgery and add some for after surgery. If insurance pays, they have a home health service come to one's house to help with monitoring one's progress and adding a few exercises.

In my case, my recovery was excellent with gaining flexibility in my knees much better than the average patient's case. I went to one of their clinics recently for a checkup and x-rays and the PA asked me to "try to walk 1/2 to a full mile a day." I showed her the pedometer app on my phone showing that I was already doing 2 miles a day or more.

I'm glad to hear a good review of Dr. Reddick. My wife is going under his knife April 10th for a total knee replacement. We have been (are) a little concerned because she had 2 surgeries on her knee last year for meniscus repair and neither surgery has resulted in an improvement. Actually quite the opposite, in fact. Those surgeries were done at the same hospital by Dr. Levings and so far we aren't happy with the results.

Prayers for your wife and her surgery.

As for Dr. Reddick, I was fortunate in that three people in our church family had joint replacement done by him and all three commended him highly. As for recuperation, I was on a walker for maybe 3 or 4 days (partially lifting the back legs of it to keep them from dragging) and then began walking with my cane just for stability. Even using the cane only lasted a few days before I just carried it "just in case."
