I had twenty rifles, now I'm down to eight.

Or I will be after I peddle my,,,
Scoped H&R Handi-Rifle in .357 Magnum,,,
And my Mossberg 702 Plinkster with scope and Tech Sights.

For several years I bought a lot of my rifles on a whim,,,
If it caught my eye and tickled my fancy,,,
I took it home with me.

I never regretted the purchases,,,
I shot all of them enough to be satisfied.

Since I retired in Jan of 2021,,,
I've sold or gifted away twelve of them,,,
With only a very few moments of sellers regret.

Now I only need to find good homes for two more and I'm done.

In the next day or so I'll take pics of my H&R Handi-Rifle in .357 Magnum,,,
It's the rifle I bought to match my H&R Sportster in .22 LR,,,
I gifted the .22 away to a son of my best friend.

When I sell that rifle and my Mossberg 702 Plinkster outfit,,,
Which is already in the classified section of this site,,,
I'll be down to the eight rifles I'll be buried with.

K-98 8mm Mauser - Because my Grandfather gave me this rifle that his brother brought back from WW-II.
Mauser es340b in .22 LR - Because it's a perfect mate to the K-98 and everyone needs a high quality single-shot.
Hi-Point 9mm Carbine - Because it such a fun range toy and a decent SHTF weapon.
Beretta U22 NEOS Carbine - Because with it's companion pistol it's a truly unique fantasy set.
Crickett "My First Rifle" - Because my best friend has three youngsters we will teach with this little shooter.
CZ-512 Carbine - Because it's just so dang cute and is fun to shoot.
CZ-512 Rifle - Because it's such a fine shooter.
CZ-457 Pro Varmint AT-1 - Because it's the rifle I shoot when I pretend I'm a sniper.

The only fiery-arm I still have a huge jones for,,,
Is an "Ultimate 10/22" of some ilk,,,
Probably a KIDD build.

But that's just a "want" and not a "must have" at all,,,
If I do decide to drop the close to $1,800 for it,,,
Then I'll probably gift away the 512 rifle.

I'm just musing here as it's rainy and cold outside,,,
And I'm in a reflective mood.

Now I've got to start thinking about what to do,,,
With the forty two handguns in my safe.

I’d just talk to sooner state pawn about all the handguns. They will take a 10% commission. That’s of course after I buy all the ones I want from you ;) (says the man that needs to sell them too)

Good on you.

I picked up a rifle, from a good guy on the forum. Took it to range Friday. Outstanding, fun, disappointing day.
Had youngest grandson to put to task of expending as much of my .22 stash as fast as possible. He did not disappoint.

First shot from newly acquired .30-06 was on target. Jammed on second round. 1st round did not eject. I failed to take cleaning rod with us, done for the day.
3 rounds through .30-30. 2 rounds on target, nowhere near each other. Set screw on sight loose. The Allen wrench I needed, missing from set, laying on reload bench. Done with rifles, move to pistol range.
5 calibers, 5 new reloads. All outstanding. Very happy. Good day.
Hot, humidity, NO wind.

Get home, cleaning rod to knock case from rifle chamber. Brass covered with scratches and rust. Extractor pulled off section of rim. A good cleaning and feeds / ejection both good. Ready for another range trip. No school Friday, grandson ready to go. No rain and try it again.

Before I totally hijack thread, before the boating accident, a list was made assigning who would receive each, IF I expire before giving their heirloom. Some will not go before, but most will.

I too am at that stage of ridding. No one to bequeath them to. Don’t want the wife burdened. Plus I just flat out acquired a big collection, and it was fun doing so. It has been the longest and enjoyable hobby I have had.

You can bequeath them to me. I'll shoulder that burden for you.

I was 55 years old before I got a professional career,,,
That funded a 12-13 year buying spree,,,
I definitely indulged myself. :thumbup3:

I'm like you with nobody to leave them to,,,
No family at any rate.

My best (and only) close friend is 25 years my junior,,,
I've already outfitted his three oldest sons with .22 rifles.

I recently gave two Henry single-shot .22's to a work buddy,,,
He has three kids and promised to join my rifle range.

I outfitted my longest-time friend,,,
With a very nice scoped .22 rifle for his 12 year old son,,,
And gifted his 20 year old daughter with a Ruger LC-9 and a .22 conversion kit.

I have a nephew but he's 60 years old,,,
He hunted as a younger man,,,
But hasn't in many years.

He was never a recreational shooter,,,
His deer rifle got fired once a year to verify the scope,,,
And after that it depended on whether he got a shot at a deer.

My one Brother is a liberal musician,,,
I've asked him if he wants any of my guns,,,
But he's gone all "woke" on me in his later years.

That's funny in a way as when we were all young-uns,,,
He was the best shot of all four of us siblings.

Before I totally hijack thread, before the boating accident, a list was made assigning who would receive each, IF I expire before giving their heirloom.

Don't worry about hi-jacking the thread,,,
It's just a general rambling about guns and inheritances and stuff.

I do have a will that states my young friend gets all of the guns I have when I die,,,
He can save them all for his four younger kids,,,
He is the proud father of a Magnificent 7,,,
Or sell them to fund their education.

By that time the S&W's alone should bring quite a tidy sum,,,
The others are desirable pistols as well,,,
Berettas, Rugers, and what-not.

Me, me, me, me, me!

You are correct, the acquisition has been most enjoyable. When a particular model catches my eye, the hunt and acquisition is of utmost enjoyment. Very, very few acquisitions have been sold or traded. Those that were was because they were a great purchase and I could trade them for what I wanted.

With 12 grandkids, 4 greats and 1 on the way; plenty of heirs to pass down to. 1 granddaughter is a clone of her libturd Mom (EX D-i-L). Tried and tried and can't convert her. 2 grandsons have proven unworthy and will receive nothing. The others have their listings (for now). By the time dispersement gets here, may be a garage sell and go on a cruise.

Sad, not how I envisioned.

Like several of you fellas, Grumpy and I have no one to leave anything to. And I've mentioned this before here, so I'll mention it again. Will give you guys with something to consider ...

I have put everything we own (including firearms) into a trust and created 2 pourover wills that will bequeath everything to the surviving spouse, and then when the last one of us passed everything will go to the Oklahoma Youth Hunting Program.

https://www.oyhp.org/home

Dusty @Oklahomabassin is our trustee. I can't think of a better group to leave our collection to than these gentlemen. And Dusty is absolutely a man of integrity -- he will make sure the money generated from the sale of the guns and ammo we have (or he will make sure the guns and ammo he keeps for the kids to use is used properly and by who it is meant to be used by -- the kids going on a hunt) will be used to enrich the lives of as many kids as possible for as long as it lasts. 🤷

Anyway ... Maybe consider doing something like that?? 🤷🤷

I like the sound of this. As I will definitely be keeping what I feel necessary till decrepitude sits in. After that they will need to go to something.

Hi, y’all. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m a ripe, old 45 year old who has a large affinity for most things firearm related. I enjoy what I have and your guns will be safe with me. I mostly can’t afford ammo, so I’ll admire the weaponry but they won’t get shot a lot.
I travel most of the state, so I offer a free pickup of any unwanted powder burners.
Adopt me and I’ll take great care of your pistolas, scatterer guns and laser beams upon your passing or sooner if that’s your desire.
