If I'm not mistaken the humvees are condemned to the same death as the old M-151 Mutts. The DOT did not recognize them as a safe vehicle for civilian use, so they cannot be sold as complete vehicles. They have to be "demilled". The M-151's were cut into pieces and sold.

The last batch of 500 I remember being sold was in 2000 they sold for $18,000 each.
You got a running vehicle and a junker for parts.
They were marine corp units. Some crap about the army contract said all theirs were to be destroyed and the marine corp contract didn't.
They were sold by Manhiem auctions in Atlanta. After that they said there would be no more. Prices sharply escalated from there.

Good sources are Military Vehicles magazine, G503.com, military vehicles in collector cars section of ebay motors.
also MVPA military vehicle preservation association. they put out a magazine called supply line.
