Do you know what kind of refrigerant the system has?

From what he said its probably A22. I went through this after I bought my house. Compressor went out (right past my 1 year warranty, go figure) and I had a neighbor's son give me a "deal". In the end that deal cost me another 9 grand along with the 1500 I paid for him to replace the compressor. I don't know if they service your area but I've had good luck with Air Comfort Solutions. Maybe not the cheapest, but they stand behind their work.

Don't envy the cost of replacing it all.

My outside unit on my central air blew up three years ago in the middle of August. I couldn't afford to get it replaced so I went a little while without a/c until I couldn't stand it anymore and went shopping for a couple of window units.

The new window units were cheap and keep my house cooler and cut my electric bill way down too. The original a/c was 16 years old and apparently wasn't very efficient.

I just read about the pickle your in. I have a small window unit that I would be glad to loan you to help get you by. I live in Harrah and could meet you somewhere or if your not able to meet me heck I'll bring it to you. I hate being hot!

Thank you. That is a very generous offer. The weather report says it’s supposed to be a little cooler the next day or so. I’m going to try and hold out as long as I can, but I might take you up on it.

Save your money on cheap window units and rent a cheap motel room with A/C.

Sounds nice, but that’s not an option. I have three dogs and my youngest son here too. It doesn’t affect him much because he works 2-12 in an air conditioned casino. By the time he gets back it’s cooled off and by the time he leaving for work it’s just starting to warm up.

The creeping crud has had me down for over a week. If I went to the doctor (usually takes about a week to get in to see him) I’m sure he’s going to tell me that it’s either the flu or pneumonia and to just let it run it’s course. Maybe it’s old age, but I don’t remember being this hot even when I was still on the job.

Well,.......the rainy season has let up long enough for the A/C tech to come out. He hooked up all the gauges and checked everything inside and outside. He believes that the problem was caused by an inside filter that was overdue for change and restricting airflow. He was in and out in just under an hour.

I had already been on the phone with Joe and he walked me through several things that needed to be done on a regular basis. The filter had already been changed after my first (of many) calls to Joe. Joe walked me through a few tricks to keep things up and running till I could get someone here to check it out and told me things to look for when he did get here to keep from being cheated.

Thanks for all the help from Joe and everyone who gave suggestions for getting things up and running.
