I have and don't like the milsurp cleaning kits. The rod is steel. Not good to have steel on steel when swabbing out the barrel.
You are probably comparing one piece rods to 3 piece rods. There's a world of differenceI don't disagree with you, but I also find it funny that some bench-resters say hard steel rods are better than brass because you can't embed grit in them and turn your cleaning rod into a lapping rod.
My point, really, is that I found gun cleaning is as bad as religion. Talk to 5 people, get 5 different answers.
Well...let's see... ...I have 30 in the rifle and another 60 on my pack. That's 90 rounds of ammo.
If I'm in a situation where I will need any more than that, I'm already in sheet up to my neck. Call me crazy, but I don't see how another 30 rounds is really gonna help.
Besides, I just wanna keep all my gear together in one handy loadout.
