Drove down to San Antonio and met up with my friend and stayed there a couple nights then we left out and drove to Galveston and got on the ship. First stop was Cozumel, Mexico second was Georgetown, Cayman Islands and final stop was Falmouth, Jamaica. Then two days at sea on the way back to Galveston. Got back into cell service around 5:30 in the morning (I couldn't sleep for some reason) but didn't make it to the car till around 10:00. Seems the guy watching the dog twisted his knee so rather than crashing for a few hours at my friends place I had to head straight home. Got in around 11:30 pm.

In Cozumel I ended up about 70 feet under water for about an hour total time between two dives. In Georgetown I did SNUBA with my friend since she is not dive certified and spent another half an hour under water but at around 20 feet max depth. She had said she would only go ten feet down and didn't even realize she was at full depth so not she wants to get certified to actually dive. I have video from both and basically just let the camera run the full time so I need to sit down and edit the video and dump the junk but figured it was better this way than to have to try and turn it back on and start recording. Met up with my wife's aunt in Jamaica and talked for a while then went to a place called Scotchies and had some real jerk chicken and pork with a DG Champagne Kola.

Trip was mostly good but my back was killing me near the end. Took something for it and between that, possibly something not agreeing with my stomach, and 12 to 14 foot swells I ended up seasick. Spent most of the last day just sitting around after I attempted to fill a trash can with the contents of my stomach. I would still do it all again though.

Glad you got away, John. Sounds like you had a good time! well, other than the boat ride home

For those that like to complain about our roads, take a quick trip to KC. We have been here most of the week for a spur of the moment gathering of cousins, mainly in Overland Park area, but a good number of trips around the Kansas City area. Everything here seems to be either under construction or needing it. Looking forward to getting back to where we know the location of our favorite potholes. Coming back Sunday afternoon if the weather forecasts hold!

I lived in Kansas City for over 50 years. The money and tax base moved out of the city a number of years ago. There are a few pockets of town that are nice but, better kept up areas are outside of the city. I haven’t been back in years...nothing to go back to.

Bad roads are everywhere. The complaint is it always costs too much money to do it so they get worse and the cost goes up till they have no choice. The place that to me is the worst is the states with the highest fuel/road taxation with large populations. You would think their roads would be paved in gold, the problem is that they increase taxes to funnel the money to some other pet program so the money never makes it where it should.

One thing to remember though is that if the pothole's have been there a while they have been reported and when damage is done to your vehicle the area responsible for the road is likely liable for the damages. I hit a HUGE pothole in OKC at one point when I was living in Lawton. Ruined not only the tires on that site but also the rims and the car needed an alignment, worst part was it was Thanksgiving night and I had to still get home. I took a hammer and beat the rim back into place as best I could and stopped multiple times to air up the tires to make it. Filed a claim with the city and they cut a check for the repairs. The next time I was in the area the road had been widened and was now concrete. They had put off repairs on the road as they were planning to upgrade the road anyway, I also have a feeling that I wasn't the only person they had to pay vehicle repairs for.

Holy crap some people shouldn't have a license of be behind the wheel of a car . . . I just had this idiot in a Mercedes about take me out on 122nd and Santa Fe just before the RR tracks.

Based on how horrible the car looked this lady didn't care about damage to her own car so I reluctantly backed off and let her in front of me, but I can't say I've ever had a car proceed to go straight while in a left hand turn lane and keep going into oncoming traffic like she did.

It's been a long time since I wanted to get out and beat the pulp out of someone so much in my life . . .
