Can't compete with all the creativity. An acquaintance of mine was working in a law enforcement job when he happened onto a skunk. Late at night, very remote site, no one there but him. He got his personal .22 pistol and promptly managed to shoot himself in the thigh--grazing wound, but it bled considerably. Jumps in his brand new car and heads for medical help. Takes a turn too fast and rolls it. He's not hurt (any worse than he already was). It's still the middle of the night, now in a fully rural setting with plowed fields between him and the nearest farmhouse with a light. The fields are wet to the point of boggy, but by the time he realized the shortcut was a bad idea he was committed. Finally gets to the farmhouse, wakes the old folks who lived there, and can't convince them he's not a robber or the devil or some other bad thing. Being self sufficient, they won't even call the sheriff, just order him to leave. So he walks more than another mile to the next house, this time on the highway shoulder. Happily these folks were more reasonable and let him call for help. Poor guy has had some terrible luck in his career. If anybody recognizes this story, let's keep him anonymous. Very nice guy, very effective officer, just had a bad night.
