I first heard RWH a few months ago while listening to the Mountain Stage Radio podcast. I can't listen to him play without a smile on my face.

Ray seemed a little out of his element or comfort zone last night - kinda like he didn't have his "A" game going or the environment wasn't right.

Yeah, I think it's just a National TV stage vs. a tiny dive bar stage, etc. Here it is since it's not up here yet.



I will always give Letterman huge credit for being such a music supporter and giving independent and non-mainstream artists a chance to play on his show. All he did for Warren Zevon, etc. He's had Sleater-Kinney, Wild Flag, Cat Power, Drive-By Truckers, Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit. Kris Kristofferson, Mastodon, Thurston Moore, Steve Earle, Pete Seeger, etc. Many awesome artists that never get radio play/TV exposure have played on his show, often more than once.
