ALWAYS check 'em. Trim as needed. Trimming is my absolute least favorite part of reloading, but I do a lot of it. I also load for a bunch of different calibers, pistol and rifle.

If they need trimmed ..but so far none of my 2000 rounds of 45acp need it.

My 357 mag is a funny one German made.
It will NOT chamber max trim length brass. Some factory 357 ammo will not chamber in that 6 shooter .010" too long..
I have to trim all my 357 brass,, but only 1 time as it never gets any longer.

All of my 45acp brass is in between .885-.895. if your brass is 1.089 that is really really long. you should trim it. how long is long colt brass? And how would it get stretched that far out?

Almost all of my 45 brass is the same headstamp. My loads are not hot, but not pillow fights, either. They have been loaded 4 times at most. When I get some more bullets in, I will trim them. They have been run through 3 guns. M&P 45, Springfield 1911 and Ed.

Same as others have posted. Never had to trim any brand of .40S&W, .45auto or Long Colt, or Casull. The only pistol round I've had to trim was 7mmBR, but of course that's not a straight case. What are the brands on the .45ACP cases that are too long?

I voted never need to. But I lied. I do have a pistol that needs the cases trimmed. It is my Contender in .357Herrett. I really don't consider it a pistol.
