and just like corncrete i bet it's ground up rhino horn and beetle paste. Many of the ingredients for our medications that are in high demand in the US come from China.

eh thanks to them getting all of our jobs they have a stronger and much, much larger middle class than ours. get rid of the us dollar reserve currency and they are suddenly all very rich.China would be broke in about 2 days.
Well.. we could certainly start mining certain minerals, metals, coal, etc. again if we had to. We used to feed the world and we could easily start feeding ourselves just on the sheer size of ag in this country. Beef, poultry, pork is doable. We have an amazing amount of oil and gas reserves we can tap into again. Clean trash to energy technology is there, we'd just have to commit to it and just do it. Our biggest worry if we just stopped trading with China would be "us". Dealing with progressive green policies while trying to become self-sustaining again would be near impossible without a moratorium on certain green policies for the time being. Each state would have to take an inventory of its own resources, man-made and natural, its technology, and productive output. We would have to pull together.... as we have done in the distant past, to survive and then thrive. This would be a very "nationalistic" and unpopular thing to do among the more radical progressives. Resistance from them would be strong. It could come down to brute force on some policies. But, I think there would be enough compromise among the more rational members of society to pull it off. These are just a few things that would be affected. As many have noted in this thread, there are many many more issues, products, and processes that would be severely disrupted and we would have to prioritize everything.Where do you think lead and copper come from? Can't mine lead that was ended in the obama years.
Yes and things like organizing and prioritizing are strong points from the current administration.....as was proven in our retreat from Afghanistan !Well.. we could certainly start mining certain minerals, metals, coal, etc. again if we had to. For what ? do you have a civil or criminal code in mind ?the corporations sold us out; then they'll leave america with nothing and happily continue their parasitic lifestyle on someone else.
we either destroy them or continue letting them destroy us.
if corporations were people; they would be in jail.
I am not so sure it was the corporations as much as our government policies. I mean every public corporation is tasked with one thing and that is profitable return and when our policies encourage such things they will cut costs by moving to cheaper labor anywhere another large issue is EPA compliance some of the manufacturing moved because environmental compliance in the U.S. is cost prohibitive. I suspect China has some seriously polluted place much like we used to have as a result.the corporations sold us out; then they'll leave america with nothing and happily continue their parasitic lifestyle on someone else.

I think Trump got duped on the whole vaccine deal by Fauci, his cronies and big pharma stating they could have a vaccine quickly that works soon to end the virus. Then it was changed to slow it down the virus, now it is changed to help make the symptoms less, AND now it has changed to have be renewed every few months. I have 3 friends who have come down with Covid within 3-4 months of taking shots, so they do not work for everyone. They were treated with drugs that cured them within 3-4 days like the ones who are curing the unvaccinated within 3-4 days. I just think Trump got bad information. In what way do you think he got duped ?
When the Civil war started in 1861, the south couldn't manufacture anything. They were so rich they could just buy it! When they were blocaded, they still couldn't manufacture anything, they didn't have the facilities, machines, skilled labor force, etc. Sound familiar?Just think about this for a while. What would happen to the U.S. if China decided to slow down the shipment of parts they alone manufacture?
Appliance parts, automotive parts, construction materials, electronic chips, electrical cables, electrical parts, tools, manufacturing machine parts, aircraft parts?
The list is endless.
Would the U.S. realize their dilemma and start to manufacture these again? Would they just sit back and wait thinking they might start back up again later?
