Open carry: plain view. everyone knows the person is carrying.
Concealed carry: no one knows who is carrying. much more uncertainty. tactically much more power in the hands of the person carrying.

This is why I cannot understand why people who support concealed carry are opposed to open carry. Concealed carry places much more discretion and power in the hands of common citizens because they can carry without anyone knowing it. open carry, they are advertising that they are carrying so less tactical power.

I can't imagine bad guys open carrying and giving up the tactical advantage.
Once again, preventing open carry only hurts decent law abiding citizens whose right to bear arms is infringed.

Abaja11 has a point. Infringed rights. Every knows the 2nd amendment says our right to arms will not be infringed. It has been infringed because we have allowed it to be so. We must get involved in the day to day operations of our government or they will be involved in all aspects of our day to day lives.

As for the store owner... Let him do as he pleases. If his business suffers he will change his mind. From the sounds of the news article and the comments I am pretty sure he will change his mind.

So if what you say is true should cops and other law enforcement carry concealed? cuz you know, its more tactical?

An LEO on duty has visible markings (like a badge, uniform etc) that identify them as such. Once they have that on, it makes little sense to carry concealed, since any perp will identify them anyway and know they are carrying.
But most off-duty LEOs carry concealed, when they want to blend in.
It's pretty simple really. If you are in a closed environment with a bunch of possible bad guys, would you rather know who is armed before hand (open carry only) or would you rather have everyone possibly carrying, but not know in advance (concealed carry)?
Concealed carry gives greater tactical advantage to the bad guys and to the potential good guys in a scenario.

Maybe the Wisconsin owner wants greater control of his situation by being able to identify in advance who is carrying or not.
Of course, this strategy does not work because bad guys will ALWAYS conceal carry till they start the crime in progress.

Tactically it makes much more sense for a good guy civilian or good guy off duty LEO to carry concealed in almost any situation.
That way they can choose when to reveal themselves as sheep dogs and not just sheep.
