i am a lefty proud owner of a savage 10flp. the only problem i have with it is that the stock is an utter piece. it is pre-accu-stock, and you can see where savage simply cut a right handed stock and filled in the slot for the right handed bolt. i am looking for a new stock at a fair price. any suggestions? thanks for the input.

Bell and Carson makes a decent stock and is priced better than Hogue or any of the other high end stocks I was researching.

I plan on ordering the B&C for my 10FP this year along with sending it out to have the barrell cut down and recrowned.

Some of the fastest folks I've ever seen shoot/manipulate a bolt-gun (from the prone position) were lefties on a right handed gun. They got to use their support hand to manipulate the bolt and all of us righties had to use our primary hand.

You know, I've always wondered about that. Like maybe getting a left bolt, right eject action or something. Maybe the Germans had it right with the Gewehr 43...

But then again, I guess it wouldn't be good in any other position than prone, you'd have to support the weight of the rifle in your trigger hand. Not hard for an AR or something, but an old 1903 or Garand or full length bolt gun, that wouldn't be fun.

i shoot right hand bolt .22lr because it is light enough to support with my shooting hand and shoot a right handed .22mag from a bi-pod, but with my .308 and .30-06 i prefer the option to be able to fire easily from any position.

I'm a lefty, and have shot both right and left handed bolt guns. I have no issue reaching across to charge the bolt on a right handed action. I started out shooting a Winchester 52 bolt gun when I was six, and didn't see my first left handed bolt gun till I was nine, which I still have, a Remington 581LH. Granted I have to break cheek weld to operate a right bolt, but I think I'm just as fast as someone who is right handed. Several folks here got to watch me shoot my 03A3 with a looped sling, no rest, at the last S&E at Thunderbird.

I've trained enough with both type actions that its no issue with me which one I have, even my K31 isn't an issue. Its just like the new LH AR's, I'm a southpaw but prefer the right handed model because I've got over 20+yrs shooting a RH one.

i have seen that choate offers a stock for the 10flp. does anyone have any experience with any of choates ultimate sniper stocks?

I had one, the thing was built like a tank and weighed the same as one too. It was steady. But I sold it and bought the Bell and Carlson Medalist A2 stock and haven't regretted it. They are worth the money over the Choates.

There are a lot of complaints about inconsistencies in them as well as QC issues.

They'll likely be a huge upgrade over the factory plastic/wood stock, but for $50 more you can get the B&C which is well worth it in my opinion.
