Got a Winchester Model 70. You can't go wrong with .375 H&H ... if you're not recoil sensitive. They shoot beautifully. They are one of those few inherently accurate rounds ... .222 ... .308 ... and .375 H&H. That's MY two cents.

About 35 yrs ago that was my favorite black timber Elk rifle. Rem 700 Classic. I never felt the recoil was as bad as a .338 Mag. Fun gun to shoot.

I have a Marlin Guide Gun in 45-70 gov't and handle the Buffalo Bore ammo fine so I think this will be a natural. I do handload and that is one of the things that is attracting me to the round, and that the .375 H&H was introduced in 1912--almost a 100 years old!

Compared to true full power 45-70 / Marlin Guide Gun loads, I think your perceived recoil from a heavy bolt action 375 H&H will be quite mild.

It's a very good and pleasing caliber/cartridge. A bit much for what is typically required around here, but that shouldn't keep you from owning one.
