Some of my favorite sports movies...


Rocky - the first three. After that, they just got stupid.

In Rocky III you have a fight between a boxer and a wrestler named "Thunderlips", an extremely over the top Mr. T, the gayest of all montages, and a very convenient dead manager motivation. That isn't stupid?

Rocky IV may seem silly and full of cold war-era shmaltz, but there's a great story there. His best friend dies in the ring. He feels guilty, The Russian calls him out, he wins. I'll give ya the robot. THAT was stupid.

Rocky V is often panned because Rocky never enters the ring. I hated Stallone's kid in it. And Oklahoma native Tommy Gunn is horrible. But the story of the guy who can't fight training a kid and then being betrayed I found compelling. Good fight at the end in a real world situation. I'd say 50/50, stupid and not stupid. Draw?

How anyone can watch Rocky Balboa and think it's stupid is beyond me. He's coping with life as a widower, and dealing with getting old. I loved the virtual boxing match idea. And anyone who says he was too old to get back in the ring has never heard of a guy named George Foreman. Definitely NOT stupid.

Not pickin on ya, just throwin in my $0.02.

Varsity Blues
Remember the Titans
Friday Night Lights (makes me cry)
Major League
Bull Durham ("I believe Oswald acted alone" - Kevin Costner LOL)

My top 10: The Natural, Field of Dreams, Brian's Song (The Original), Hoosiers, Raging Bull, Bull Durham, Slap Shot, Eight Men Out, The Hustler, The Color of Money

You know what I find funny? I've never seen one of those movies you mentioned... lol.
