You guys ever heard of channel fever, sea bats, keys to the sea chest, or being sent to find 20 foot of gig line or fallopian tube? Always fun with new boots. Oh the laughs!!!

Lets see, bulkhead remover, 50 feet of flight line and while a destroyer we sent the newbie down to where the Engineering Officer of the Watch was at and told him to go down and tell them he needed to blown the eowl. Sent one down to get a BT punch from the Boiler Tech's and made one stand on the fantail and stand the mail bouy watch. Lets see, a bucket of steam. Thats all I can think of at the moment.

Pulled into Trieste, Italy after being out for 2 months and the first night the Carabinieri(Italian Police) brought one of the shoes back and when he got out of the police car he tried to pay them for the taxi ride. If you've ever dealt with the Carabinieri, they don't play around at all. He's lucky he didn't get beat down right in front of the Officer of the watch.

Had one of the AW's(aircrewmen) get mad at the shoes on the Destroyer I was on and on one of the mail runs we did with the heliocopter he took a hand full of blank envelopes out and as they approached the ship he threw them out in from of the shoes. Man there was yelling and screaming going on and after that they didn't give him a hard time.

Which UNITAS did you do? I went in '92. And yes, good times in Cartegena! (And Rio, Maracaibo, Recife, Punta Arenas, Coquimbo, Bahia Blanca, etc...)

1988. Recife, oh my oh my! I am afraid of the pictures that some people have somewhere from that place. Thank God they were not digital back then.

Come on, nobody remembers sending billy booter to fetch the mast crank when pulling out of San Dog???

Lurker66, that is a new one on me- I never knew the zeroes to insert themselves into the affairs of we Enlisted Men. That would have definitely jacked me up as well!

Dunno but i was set up good, And i was always being a jokester with my seniors. Between my "mast" and being a "Super Wog" i learned to leave the old salts alone.
