What is going on with USSA? I have let my membership lapse there. I was considering re_upping once ammo was reasonable again. However they have lost or gotten rid Mike Seeklander, Chris Collins and Steve Aryan. Then USSA released this on their FB page today:

US Shooting Academy 46 minutes ago ·

New Improvements Coming to Shooting Facility

United States Shooting Academy announces partial sale of facility and site improvements. United States Shooting Academy, one of the premier shooting facilities in the country is proud to announce that the north portion of the range is under contract to the Tulsa County Sheriffs Office. The sale will include the north carbine, Rodgers, shoot house and the 360 degree ranges. This will allow the Tulsa County Sheriffs Office to update and maintain their training program. USSA will have full use of these ranges until the final closing, estimated for April 1, 2013. USSA members will have access to the Rodgers range on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays until the new reactive target system is complete on the south complex.

This sale will bring many planned improvements to the south side of the range. A new entrance will be created, the existing gate will remain and a new gate and paved road will have direct access to the Lodge entrance. This will make the range more secure as all vehicles will have to pass the Lodge on the way to the range. The 300 yard range will be reconfigured to allow a single firing line for 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 yard targets. A new computer controlled reactive steel target system is being designed that will allow for interval timing and scoring. A new 100 yard lighted bay will replace the existing AP4 bay. A new training building is planned in the AP3 bay that will allow for shooting under cover or from inside for inclement weather training. Covered shade areas are planned for each of the existing MP bays, these will be approximately 10’x20’ with an equipment table. Also the agreement with the Sheriffs department allows the shoot house and the 360 bay to be used by USSA for special training or matches.

USSA believes this is in the best interest of the members and will improve an already magnificent facility. We do ask for your patience during construction, to facilitate construction the range will be closed on Mondays and everything possible will be done to keep most bays open during normal business hours. United States Shooting Academy

What is going on? They seem to try to put a positive spin on this release, but the reality is that they are selling off about 1/2 to a 1/3 of their land in this deal...WTF?

Man that Rogers range was cool...... I won't be joining until I see the "improvements."

I let my red castle membership lapse.... granted I hated driving out there from south Tulsa but it looks like that was mistake.

This will allow money from the sale to be used to build a new Rogers range and some covered shooting areas. There will be less insurance costs and taxes. roughly less than a 1/3rd of the range is being sold. Members were usually only allowed to use rogers range and 360. The rest of the ranges being sold were used for training by instructors. We are looking at building a mat room and another class room outside of the lodge. Its all good brother.

So the decreased taxes and insurance costs will translate into lower fees?

Didn't think so.

Most likey not. The money is being put back into the range in the way of a new Rogers Range, Mat room, Class room, Covered shooting bays...ect. I have no Idea what it cost to run USSA but I believe the future will be good with all the upcoming improvments being planned. The only thing being sold and not replaced is the 360 range and most members have never even been in it.

on a side note about USSA. They donated the lodge to sign up 170 teachers for a free Carry Class and and then donated the class room for 4 weekends for the training of CCW and active shooter senerios.
