Ok, I'm finishing up 3 new rifles next week. Just ordered most all of my parts, and I'm putting rifle-length quads on them all. Each will be a different color, one OD, one FDE, and one pink. I'll probably do a FG one later.

So I'm looking at ladder rail covers and holy crap! Most of the 3-packs I am seeing are 18-slot, which I think will only cover up to about a mid-length quad-rail, right? I mean, the rifle-length YHM Diamond rail has 28 rail sections... I would need essentially 112 ladder slots (not counting off for the MBUS or VFG/AFG, etc. These 18-slot 3-packs are running $30+ each... which just seems pretty ridiculous for some colored rubber stuff, lol. I know everything has its markup, but, dang man! I'm gonna end up spending over $100 on ladder rail covers!

Anyone have suggestions? Maybe a cheaper brand or place that really sells them cheaply? The Ergo ones I am seeing are just silly high for such a cheap item. I don't want the full cover "sleeve" type, I want it to be low-profile and I want the ladder-rail "look".

So... suggestions?

I use these and like them a lot better than the ergo's:

Plus I only install them where my hands actually touch the rail. Save a few ounces, and it's still comfortable where I need it to be.

To be honest, I'm actually using this set because I like handstop's better than VFG's:

Here is my rifle with the index clips installed for reference:

I like the LaRue clips as well, but they're not any cheaper.

They're a little cheaper. You get 3 18 slot sections on the Ergo for $28. You get 72 pieces with the Larue kit (equal to 4 ergo sections) for $30. Not saving a lot, but I think the Larue's are better than the Ergo's anyhow.

EDIT: Never mind, they're $20 for 3 18 slot sections. You win. The Larue's still feel better, plus you get a sweet silver canister to keep stuff in. Ha.

Looking at the Troy Alpha rails now, and I love those squid grips, but damned if they don't come in pink! Ugh! Also expensive... cosmetic accessories are ridiculous. lol

I wonder about getting those squids and spray-painting them? I mean, I know the paint isn't going to hold up to any abuse, being a soft rubber product, but this isn't a rifle going to be used for heavy duty stuff. Just want something very cool-looking that is pink to go with the pink stock and grip I bought. And hopefully the pink camo trigger guard I am going to win on Egay.

Paint them. Worse case scenario you have to add more paint. I think it would look cool.
