Watched one episode. After seeing the bug bites on them and watching the very deadly snakes they were stepping over, I just couldn't watch any more. Not only couldn't I do it myself, I can't even watch it on TV.

The older I get, the worse my eyesight gets, the better I look.

Yeah, yeah, that's it.

Not that I have ever been to a nudist resort or nude beach, but (I hear) there are some sights. May explain my bad eyesight. OMG, I'm BLIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nobody should have to see THAT!

I've only see about an episode and a half, but it doesn't really look like it's fixed. The one I saw was in Africa and the guy got a thorn in his foot on the first day. After a while it was bothering him so much they brought in a doc to check him out. They ended up taking him back to base camp, treated the foot, wrapped it, and gave him some antibiotics to prevent infection. He still wanted to go on so they took them back to where they were and let them continue. So it looks to be a somewhat controlled situation (for safety and liability reasons I'm sure), but not staged or rigged. I still like Survivorman the best as far as people in the wild shows go.

Les is the man! But I get so tired of watching him sit and survive... Just as you can only see Bear drink piss so many times before it loses shock value. I like the new show.

I also liked the one with the husband and wife. It was great early on when she had no idea about survival. Dual survival isn't bad either (it has a similar husband/wife dynamic :) ). But those both involve the survivors being 'presented with opportunities' to show how to survive.

Man Woman Wild was that one. One of the episodes has an uncensored nip slip. ;)

My favorites, in order:

Survivorman
Various Ray Mears shows (Extreme Survival my favorite)
Man Woman Wild
Dual Survival
Naked and Afraid
Man vs Wild (I don't buy into the Bear Grylls hate, but I dislike a show that shows you what to do in the most extreme worst case scenarios. Never when you're alone in a survival situation should you find it necessary to treat 120 ft vines next to a rocky, jagged waterfall as a firehouse pole.)

I think the show is about as real as a TV survival show can be, considering liabilities etc. Just not something I'd want to do. They do seem to go long periods without food or water. I wonder how far they'd go towards dehydration before the staff would be forced to step in.

I always wondered why the "Survivor" show has never been filmed in the Arctic. Always a tropical setting. Arctic survival would be much tougher than tropical survival. At least I would think so, never had to survive in either.

My guess would be that without the scantily clad contestants NOBODY WOULD WATCH. But that would be just a guess, since I don't watch anyways. Watched one episode several years back. The previews discussed a wild pig hunt conducted by one of the less citified contestants. SO I tuned in. The guy made a spear from a knife and a limb. The 'tribe' had eaten very little for 3 days. He waited in a tree while 2 others herded the pig towards him. The camera was showing the reactions of the city girls in camp listening to the squeals and then laughing in the woods. One girl in particular was very vocal about how wrong it was to kill this innocent pig and the blood thirsty men. Of course, she was the first one to line up for a pork chop when they cooked the pig. I would have made sure she got NOTHING but leaves. Refused to watch the crap again.
