I use my aimpoints a whole lot more than my shotgun.

I only have one shotgun which is a Ruger Red Label, it's a great field & clay gun. I don't think I'd get another pump again, for home defense I'd prefer a high capacity rifle. So I choose optic, if that is your only shotgun option.

This is a good point. I cheaped out with a Maverick 88 before I had my saiga, and was dissappointed, but a nice optic for my AR and a budget shotgun would probably be a better combo than a nicer shotgun and a budget optic.

There's your answer, but I've never had an aimpoint, I dont shoot clay, turkey hunt with a bow, so my maverick works just fine for me.

I would go with a Rem 870 or VersaMax, BUT of your 2 choices Mossberg is the way to go. Not a fan of Aimpoint.

For a hunting gun the yildiz o/u is hard to beat. I own a bunch of shotguns. I would take the yildiz for clays or hunting over anything else.
