Favorite Comedian

The recent death of Robin Williams got me to thinking about who my favorite comedians are; which ones can make me laugh out loud.

For me the top 10 are:

1) Sam Kinnison
2) Robin Williams
3) Christopher Titus
4) Bill Cosby
5) Ron White
6) Bill Engval
7) Ellen Degenerous
8) Kathleen Madigan
9) Louis Black
10) Cheech and Chong

There was a time when I'd have put George Carlin on the list but he got way, way too political in the last 10 or so years of his life. Stopped making me laugh as a result. Saw him live back in the 70's while a student at Texas A&M. Funny, funny guy. Too bad he turned to the darkside.

Not much on comedians myself. Actually I have only heard of 4 of the 10 on your list..Out of those 4 there are only one that will make me laugh out loud and that's Cheech and Chong. Guess it's the fact I was growing up in the 60's and 70's but those guys are spot on in my books......

Louis CK is the greatest standup to ever walk on stage. Not because of his success, popularity or blowing up with his show and his work ethic and all that. I've seen a lot of comedians perform live. I saw Louis walk on stage to almost 3,000 people in a sold out theater and improv his first bit. He had everyone in the palm of his hand. I've never seen any performer read crowd energy and tailor his jokes and delivery and timing to reactions so well. I laughed so hard I about choked within the first three minutes. There is a reason he exploded once he finally started to get recognition. Him vs other good standups is like the difference in being good at checkers or great at chess.

Stanhope is another awesome, awesome guy. I saw him last spring on my birthday and my girlfriend and I got to talk to him and Bingo for a while. Super nice people.
