Very nice revolver. I bet that thing does speak with authority. But carry it? As in a CCW Gun? Nah... I’m gonna have to pass. Isn’t it interesting when you think about the wide range of revolvers S&W makes? I mean like...compare a little Airweight J frame to this beast.

It can. The heaviest recoil I have experienced with it was when I was shooting some Winchester 175 grain Silvertips. Not quite up to 44 Magnums, but close enough. It would be a good handgun for Alaska if I were to go there on a trip.

The other day, I stopped in Enid and picked a few things up. One was a Hogue Monogrip, and three boxes of Federal Hydra Shok. These were from a B&M gun store. Then on to WallyWorld, where I picked up a small toolbox (the better to keep my different calibers and speedloaders separate, my dear) and a small knife-sharpener. What does a knife sharpener have to do with the 610, you ask? This particular knife-sharpener happens to have a round file to take the sharp edge off trigger.

I put some heavy duct tape on the side plate to protect it from getting scratched, and gently took the sharp edge off the trigger. Someone in Springfield had to have been a sadist, when they made this trigger. Anyway, I got it down to where I don't think it will make a blister when I shoot a string of hot rounds through it. I'll take a bandaid with me next time I shoot it, though, just in case.

I just ordered 32 more moon clips and 150 more Sellier & Bellot 10mm rounds from Midway and they should be here later this week. Now that I have my BMT tool, I will shoot my 610 more often. Now to lose some weight, so I don't have to buy new belts. :thumbup3:

102 rounds went downrange today including 24 old Hornady 180 gr FMJ factory rounds and some of the Ram stuff that I had on hand. The recoil, while definitely noticeable, was not too bad although my right hand is feeling it as I type this.

The Hogue monogrip helped in controlling the gun and was a major part of my staying on target.

Of the rounds I fired today, the Hornady stuff seemed to have the heaviest recoil and the RAM was not far behind. There was some old hand loads that I also shot with a 155 grain bullet backed by a charge of 231 powder. I forget what the powder weight was, but I believe it put the SWC bullets out about 800-900 fps. That is a decent clip. Six rounds of that Federal Hydra-Shok also went through the 610 and I was actually surprised that their felt recoil was about like the RAM 10mm that I fired today

While most would not find this gun ideal for CC (and I am among them) it would be quite suitable for carry in wilderness areas or for hunting game such as deer, or perhaps bear, and it has been suggested as a good hog gun. If I ever got to Alaska, this would be a very good candidate for the gun to carry.

It would also serve as a good house gun. And did I say that it is fun to shoot?

Would you gentle people believe that I found an old case of Remington (actually UMC) 10mm ammo? It was seemingly from my old dealer stock. Early 1990's production. It was 180 grain FMJ.

S&W has the 610 back in production.

I'm having my FFL look for one. I believe it would be a practical carry gun for me, as the barrel is shorter than the one I have now.

It comes in the 4" tube pictured here, and 6".

Just ordered one from gunbroker and in a first for me, I ordered it using my iPhone using the app for my implant. It sounded tinny like a very old telephone connection but I understood the guy on the other end quite well.

Got the 610 home and experienced a seismic event. No; not my wife killing me, it was a fairly strong quake. IN a few minutes, I'll look it up on the USGS website.
