"The House Of The Rising Sun" was named after its occupant Madame Marianne LeSoleil Levant (which means "Rising Sun" in French) and was open for business from 1862 (occupation by Union troops) until 1874, when it was closed due to complaints by neighbors. It was located at 826-830 St. Louis St.

“The House of the Rising Sun” is a traditional folk song from the United States. Also called “House of the Rising Sun” or occasionally “Rising Sun Blues”, it tells of a life gone wrong in New Orleans.

The Animals recorded House of the Rising Sun in one take. It was the first time a rock rhythm was applied to a folk song. They played it for the first time while touring with Chuck Berry.

I was playing bass in a college band in 1964, when the "British Invasion" struck, mostly playing USA music known as "Delta Blues."

I actually got to meet Eric at the Oklahoma State Fair a few years ago. We had a beer and talked about all the groups we liked together.

He is a really big fan of Led Zepplin and Cream.
