I almost bought a new old stock 2019 Bolt last year. I didn't because I hated the interior. Otherwise, it was fun to drive and had the right range for driving around town for a day or two or three and recharge in my garage. I hadn't set out looking for an EV and wasn't really interested until I drove it. My daily commute is 70 miles, the Bolt made a lot of sense.
It's too bad a somewhat rare pair of battery manufacturing defects has tarnished these cars. The vast majority are just fine, but a few have these defects that can't be identified without taking the battery pack apart.
The next generation of GM EVs will use a different battery technology. Too bad they don't have replacement battery packs for the Bolt that use that.
