Deep in the Creek County woods.
I found my old Lyman Turbo Tumbler that I bought at a garage sale decades ago.

I am going to clean some brass for a friend out of one of my brass buckets at my little range.

I don't remember what media I used but I think it was corncobs or crushed walnut hulls.

Any suggestions anyone?

I've always gotten along just fine with corncob media, although it will stick in flash holes fairly regularly. I quit depriming before sizing, so now any media stuck in the flash holes comes out when I deprime after cleaning.

If you have a large volume to do, you can get corncob much cheaper by buying it in bulk as blast media rather than as a reloading accessory. I haven't bought any for years; last time was a big sack (40 lbs maybe?) from Grainger.

What I've always heard is that corncob will get the tougher grime off, but crushed walnut shells will polish them up shinier.

Jerry's Outdoor World on 51st usually has both that are crushed fine enough that they don't stick in the flash holes. I believe you can get either finely crushed corncob, or walnut shell, or a mixture of both.

Get the combo and put about a teaspoon to a tablespoon of NuFinish Car Wax in it, let it percolate until it's distributed through out the media, then put your brass in for a few hours. It will come out looking like new.

Check out some pet stores if you have one. I bought a sack of either walnut or corn cob from there. Seems like it was bedding for lizards.
This.
Crushed walnut reptile bedding. Add a cap-full of Nu Finish liquid car wax and let it run for a few minutes before the first batch of brass.

Its the other way around corncob for polish and walnut for grime. I have used nothing but cob with some nu finish. I also use a universal deprimer and after cleaning will use the reg deprime sizer die and it cleans the flash hole out.

Seems like everytime I have a 50/50 chance of being right, 100% of the time I'm wrong. I'm just that good! :rollingla

I have just used corncob with NuFinish for a long time, but once I found the fine crushed at Jerry's, I tried that. I had been picking the flash holes out by hand, but didn't have to with the fine crush. And I got a mixture of corncob and crushed walnut and it works great.
