I got to talking with a couple state representives and they are looking to hear from the hunters of our state on new things. The one I was wondering if anyone would like to see pistols included in muzzle loader season. This would be for pistol cartridges only and only can use ones with certain amount of speed and knock down force. Minnesota and South Dakota already have simlar seasons. Just throwing this out there and see if there would be any takers.
As in pistol caliber shot out of a pistol and spelled out that way? Not just pistol calibers only, as there are quite a few rifles that shoot pistol calibers.
Wouldn't you want to limit it to strictly handguns themselves? A .357 or .44 mag lever action would be nearly the same as hunting with a 30/30. I've never hunted deer before (but intend to one day), and have always wanted to try it using my .44 mag revolver.

There are some pistols that shot rifle calbers too. The T/C contender is one I'm talking out about.
i think that would be a great idea, but nothing larger then a 45, and smaller then 357mag...................
I'm just pointing out that if the intention is for a short barreled gun with a pistol grip to be used in a "traditional pistol caliber" then they are going to have to list what is legal and what isn't. Otherwise what would be the difference between a T/C Contender in .308 and a regular rifle or one in .44 mag and a Marlin lever action in .44 mag?

That is the intent. Like I said earlier the caliber would have to go a certain speed and have a minimun knock down power.
I do think it would be interesting. For my own reasons, I'm not much of a hunter of larger animals, but I'd be very interested in a pistol only deer season.
