I got to talking with a couple state representives and they are looking to hear from the hunters of our state on new things. The one I was wondering if anyone would like to see pistols included in muzzle loader season. This would be for pistol cartridges only and only can use ones with certain amount of speed and knock down force. Minnesota and South Dakota already have simlar seasons. Just throwing this out there and see if there would be any takers.

I think the "muzzle loader" description needs to change most are not much different that a single shot rifle. But I would be in for a pistol season.

Wouldn't you want to limit it to strictly handguns themselves? A .357 or .44 mag lever action would be nearly the same as hunting with a 30/30. I've never hunted deer before (but intend to one day), and have always wanted to try it using my .44 mag revolver.

There are some pistols that shot rifle calbers too. The T/C contender is one I'm talking out about.

I'm just pointing out that if the intention is for a short barreled gun with a pistol grip to be used in a "traditional pistol caliber" then they are going to have to list what is legal and what isn't. Otherwise what would be the difference between a T/C Contender in .308 and a regular rifle or one in .44 mag and a Marlin lever action in .44 mag?

It does open up a unique opportunity.
I think it might need to be specific to handgun calibers.
Otherwise it's not much different than rifle season.
This would be somewhat different from rifle in that most of the shots will be from closer ranges.

That is the intent. Like I said earlier the caliber would have to go a certain speed and have a minimun knock down power.
