Just wondering what load others are using in the 45 ACP.

I've been loading Remington 230 gr. FMJ ball bullets over 5.2 grs. of W231 with a WLP primer since Hector was a pup and the load has always shown to be accurate in any 1911 I've fired it through.

Hodgdon web site data for W231 or HP-38 with a 5" barrel (their test bullet was a Hornady 230 gr. FMJ FP);

Min. 4.2 grs. = 751 fps..........Max. 5.3 grs. = 832 fps.

For the most part, I cast my own 200 grain LSWC bullets.

I load them with 5.5 grains of HP-38 powder. (This is NEAR MAXIMUM load, so use caution with it)

They function pretty will in my Beretta Px4 Storm. I've never really formally tested them for accuracy, but I can hit stuff with 'em.

I have kind of settled on 4.7 gr of WST and a summer enterprise 200 gr coated bullet. Low recoil impulse, low smoke, no flash, very clean and very accurate.

Add to this the powder is a “grey” color, high volume (read as fluffy) so it is impossible to double charge a case and very easy to see in the cases on the press.
