Have you not had the cataract surgery yet?
Not everyone needs cataract surgery. I had it developing for probably something like 10 years before it got to the point that my optometrist said that the best he could correct me to was 20/25 and that I would surely need the surgery in one more year.

I dont have cateracts.
I will have one for each eye./prescription per eye.(Not one for near in one eye and far in the other eye)
They have different concentric circles (3) One for up cloce,one for mid range,one for far distance. The eyes look through all 3. One in each eye.

I’ve been wearing them for several years. 8 years maybe. They are awesome. I am moderate to severely near sighted (Myopia) My prescription is -6.0 and -6.5 with +2.50 maximum add (for the nearer view rings). They will feel a bit weird at first, but it is amazing what the brain will start processing.
My Presbyopia (ability to focus on closer objects because of loss a lens elasticity) had gotten so bad that I could not see my speedometer clearly. Shooting handguns was a big issue. I first tried a reverse monovision using my dominate eye for close up viewing. It worked but was not optimal. My optometrist then introduced me to multifocal and my world changed.
We did quite a bit of experimenting and I found that reducing the power of my dominate eye another .50 helped me even more with only a very small loss in distance. But I can now focus more cleanly on the front sight instead of the rear. I was supposed to do this for shooting but found it works very well everyday and have been wearing this combination for at least 5 years. I still experiment with different primary powers in my dominate eye trying to get a better edge, but always fall back to the 6.0 in both eyes.
I will still sometimes use a set of readers if I’m working on something precise or working on the computer for several hours. But, I’m not dependent on readers 90% of the time like I was before.
I have been a contact lense wearer 46 years.
Cataracts are in early stages for me and it looks like I’ll have to have lense(s) replaced in 3-5 years. There are some similar options with the replacement lenses. Plus my astigmatism can be addressed.

This method is called monovision.
