A quick Stream of Consciousness: I've wanted a 10mm 1911 for years, and for some reason when I have the money I always end up with something else. Interestingly, there's more options now than ever before. Here's a few interesting choices that I'm considering, with some basic pros/cons (for me) in respect to their prices:

$700-800 range: there are some really competitive options here; most small part are MIM but seem to be done well by these:

Ruger SR1911: http://www.ruger.com/products/sr1911/specSheets/6739.html

Pros: value for price, bull barrel
Cons: no front strap checkering

Kimber Target II: http://www.kimberamerica.com/stainless-target-ii-ca

Pros: value for price
Cons: no front strap checkering, series 80, it's a Kimber

$1000-1100 range: very interesting options in this range

Sig Tacops: https://www.sigsauer.com/store/1911-tacops-full-size.html

Pros: front strap checkering, maybe the external exactor
Cons: i don't really want a rail or magwell, maybe the external exactor

Kimber Camp Guard 10: http://www.kimberamerica.com/camp-guard#http://www.kimberamerica.com/pistols/1911/special-edition/camp-guard-10mm

Pros: series 70 Kimber, front strap checkering, bobtail, RMEF edition is unique
Cons: it's a Kimber, i'm wondering if the shorter main spring will be an issue in tuning for 10mm???

$1300-1400 range: high quality production guns in this range, many with tool steel small parts

Dan Wesson Razorback: http://danwessonfirearms.com/product/razorback-rz-10/

Pros: fit and finish, all tool steel small parts
Cons: no front strap checkering

Dan Wesson Commander Classic Bobtail: http://danwessonfirearms.com/product/commander-classic-bobtail/

Pros: they will build it in 10mm, fit and finish, front strap checkering, all tool steel small parts, bobtail, commander length
Cons: i'm wondering if the commander length in 10mm will affect longevity of the pistol???
