Got to take some ballistic measurements of my 10mm G40 today. :D I worked up two loads. I am only reporting my maximum tested loads. I safely worked up in small increments and checked for signs of excessive pressure signs after each shot. 1. 180 grain Speer Total Metal Jacket 14.5 grains aa#9 (5shots) max: 1339 min: 1313 average: 1326 sd: 12.2 second set of 5 shots with 14.5 grains aa#9 max: 1337 min: 1283 average: 1314 sd: 22.7 2. 155 grain Hornady XTP 9.9 grains Power Pistol (5 shots) max: 1441 min: 1413 average: 1424 sd: 14.7 (5 shots) max: 1424 min: 1373 average: 1410 sd: 21.1 The 155 grain load shot like butter. It not as hot as the underwood 155 XTP's @1500fps, but its not far off! The G40 has a 6inch barrel, no idea at what barrel length the underwood ammo is tested at (probably 5 inch). I saw no warning signs so i may push this one a little bit more, although the Hornady reloading manual lists 10 grains of PP as the max load. I think I will leave the 180 gain load as is, although the max load in the hornady manual is 14.9 grains. Either would make for a good companion in the woods:o
