I get the whole .223/5.56 shortage and all, but does anyone know why .380 is so hard to find?

380 is typically loaded on the same manufacturing line(s) as 9mm and the ammo factories are cranking out 9mm as fast as possible for now. Once 9mm production slows, then 380 will get more production time.
Another option is 380 is easy to reload, like many pistol calibers.

That makes sense. I hate .380 cause it costs more but my wife has a P238 and insists on having ammo for some reason.

.380 is one of the calibers that I see at Wally world still. Sitting there with it's buddies .357sig and .40.

I have been surprised at the amount of .380 on the shelves.

Now watch, tomorrow it will all be gone.

remember all the kt 380's and lcp that everyone had to have. Now they got to hysteria buy the ammo for it. What if it is never ever made again, then where would they all be.....lol. I got one too, and still got the several boxes of ammo for the last scare.

Too funny. I JUST came to this section to post about .380 and I see there is already a thread going on it. I've been seeing a lot of .380 on the shelves and remembering how in '09 it was like pure gold. People were paying through the nose for ammo and when .380 dies would pop up they would sell for close to $100. Fortunately when I bought my .380 (Sig P238- since sold) ammo was easy to find but still higher than it should have been.
I miss the little .380 and may have to get another sometime. Pretty sure I still have a little ammo around for it. As far as other not-so-popular ammo besides .357 Sig, I've seen plenty of 10mm on the shelf but that too is way overpriced.

.380 is the new .38spl. I don't buy any of the fancy high dollar stuff of either one. ball works fine in .380, SWC works great in .38spl. Both of which are easy to find right now. Same with .357 Magnum ammunition, 30-30, and other types.
