I was just wondering if I am the owner of a rifle I can ship it USPS to a gunsmith any were in the US for some work. I am pretty sure I can do that, but when it comes to the gunsmith shipping it back to me does he have to ship it to an FFL even if I am the registered owner? :hithead:

thanks Dustin

Dustin,

You can ship directly to the gunsmith and he can ship it directly back. An FFL isn't needed because there is no "transfer" of ownership involved. The same holds true for sending a gun back the the factory for repair.

Do not indicate on the package what is inside.

I recently shipped one through UPS, and you have to go to the main hub, The little UPS stores can't do it<<<if you tell them it is a gun>>>>>. I just said it was gun parts, and insured the hell out of it. Got there just fine.
