All the fireweed went to seed by the end of the trip. The last day all the fireweed (answer its everywhere up there) went to seed at once. It filled the air and looked like snow!
"Cow parsnip" its supposedly toxic and gives a nasty rash if you touch it.
Calving event. The sound is like a cannon, and you hear it several seconds after you see the "splash".

I will never be able to look at an Otter the same way after reading about the study in Monterey Bay...and what otters do to baby seals...
HDR shot of the glacier. 3 exposures, no tripod from the top deck of a crowded tour boat... I used the railing of the boat to brace, composed the shot and "prayed and sprayed" for 3 exposures that would line up
