OKLAHOMA CITY - A Sapulpa soldier was killed in Afghanistan Tuesday, the third Oklahoma National Guardsman to die in a week, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.

Staff Sergeant Kirk Owen died Tuesday from wounds suffered when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive ordinance in the Lajah District of Paktia Province, a spokesperson for the Oklahoma National Guard said.
