Read the Kuhnhausen (I can't spell it without the manual right here) manuals to get a general idea of how the parts work. If you can borrow copies of the AGI and Wilson DVD's on barrel fitting and watch them over and over.

I know you're a benos member, look up CSEMARTIN, he has a thread dedicated to building a 1911, and there are a number of threads about barrel fitting. If you can get the barrel fit correctly, and get the timing right you should have a reliable pistol. The rest is far easier. I spent 80+ hours on that gun, sometimes I would sit with it for an hour plus because 1 part wouldn't fit and I would have to coat everything with marker and look for rub marks.

Like I said that gun taught me a lot, my next one will be a dedicated SS in 40s&w. I have been thinking about a build thread, just to document the process.
